Micro Botox

Micro Botox
Also known as 'microtox', this treatment involves the injection of Botulinum toxin type A into the surface layers of the skin to minimise pores, smooth the skin and achieve the coveted 'Glass Skin' effect.
Treatment FAQs
Also known as 'microtox', this treatment involves the injection of Botulinum toxin type A into multiple areas in the face. The solution is injected into the surface layers of the skin to inhibit those muscle fibres which attach to the dermis.
Whilst Micro Botox and traditional Botox treatments use Botulinum toxin A, the way in which the solution is injected differs.
Botulinum toxin A works by inhibiting the chemical messengers that cause muscle contraction. In traditional Botox treatments, the solution is injected at a deeper level to prevent contraction in the body of the muscle. This prevents the formation of dynamic wrinkles also known as 'expression lines'.
Micro Botox typically involves a higher number of injections, administered in the surface layers of the skin to inhibit those muscle fibres which attach to the dermis. As such, Micro Botox is used to target a variety of skin quality and texture issues without having a substantial effect on muscle dynamics.
Micro Botox is predominantly used to improve the quality and texture of skin by minimising large pores, inhibiting sebum production, and it can also target specific concerns such as facial flushing, hyperhidrosis and even rosacea.
The Botulinum toxin is injected into the surface layers of the skin where blood vessels, sweat glands and hair follicles are found, inhibiting the superficial muscle fibres which attach to the dermis.
The overall result is a smoother complexion, helping to achieve the coveted 'Glass Skin' look.
The effects of Micro Botox are not immediately visible; typically it takes several days for the initial effect to become apparent and can take up to two weeks before the Botulinum toxin takes full effect.
Micro Botox injections typically last around 3 months depending on the individual. It should be noted that Micro Botox injections do not last as long as traditional Botox treatments.
Micro Botox is not the same as 'baby Botox' although the terms have been used interchangeably.
'Baby Botox' deploys the same method as traditional Botox treatments, with injections targeting the body of muscle, but in smaller doses to achieve a more subtle effect. Micro Botox involves injecting Botulinum toxin A into the surface layers of the skin to inhibit those muscle fibres which attach to the dermis.
Before and after the procedure, your doctor will clearly explain any aftercare instructions to you. Micro Botox treatments, however, are fairly straightforward with hardly any associated risks, so aftercare is minimal and there is little to no downtime expected after the treatment
Avoid rubbing, massaging, or applying any pressure to the treated area. These actions can cause the Botox to spread to other areas of the body which could negatively affect your results. When being injected between the brows, do not lie down or bend over for three to four hours as doing so may cause the botox to slip under the orbital rim an possibly cause an eyelid droop.
Some patients may experience minor bruising at the sites of injection, but this can be easily covered with makeup. You will be able to resume your normal activities immediately after the procedure has finished.
Minor bruising or discomfort may occur, but should improve within a few days. Other side effects may include swelling or drooping in eyelid area, tiredness, headache, neck pain, double vision, dry eyes, allergic reactions such as rash, itching or asthma symptoms. Contact the clinic immediately if any of these side effects occur.
