What is Ellansé?
Ellansé is a collagen-stimulating injectable gel comprised of Polycaprolactone (PCL) microspheres in a Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) carrier gel. Both substances are bioresorbable and are naturally broken down by the body over time into carbon dioxide and water and then eliminated without leaving any traces in your body.
What does Ellansé treat?
Ellansé is a fantastic treatment for filling fine lines and wrinkles and restoring lost volume in the facial contours. It is particularly effective for the following:
- restoring hollow temples
- replacing lost volume in the mid face
- filling nasolabial folds
- filling marionette lines
- restructuring the chin and jawline
- remodelling ageing skin on the hands (see Ageing-Maintenance Treatment for the Hands)
Details of the procedure
Following a consultation with one of our team of doctors, the treatment area is sterilised before being injected with an ultrafine needle (or cannula).
The treatment will take approximately 30 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. With Ellansé, only one session is needed for immediate and long-lasting correction.
Is it painful?
Treatment with Ellansé is virtually painless. The solution is injected into the skin using an ultrafine needle in small amounts, so any discomfort experienced is minimal.
When will I see results of Ellansé?
Some volumising effects and reduction in wrinkles can be seen immediately after treatment. The full effect of the treatment will appear over time as the Ellansé solution gradually stimulates your body's own collagen production. This will start to become apparent after a month or so, and will continue to improve as neocollagenesis continues.
How long will the results of the treatment last?
The results of treatment with Ellansé can last anywhere between 18 months and 3 years depending on the type of Ellansé gel that your practitioner chooses and the location into which it is injected.
What are the risks?
Treatment with Ellansé is an incredibly safe procedure with minimal side effects. The most common side effects include swelling, redness and mild bruising which should resolve within a few days.
What, if any, aftercare instructions should I follow?
Aftercare is generally very minimal; you should avoid exposing the treatment area to UV rays as much as possible, refrain from strenuous exercise and avoid extremes of temperatures until any initial swelling and redness has resolved.
