The Antioxidant Botanicals: Watermelon, Grapevine, Chlorella & Helichrysum
Up to 80% of visible skin aging is photoaging — the cumulative result of UV-induced free radical damage to collagen, elastin, and cell membranes. Anti-aging skincare focuses heavily on stimulating what has been lost. Equally important is protecting what remains. These four botanicals in the Dr Sebagh range address that directly, each through a distinct mechanism.
01 — Watermelon Hydration & Antioxidant Defence
Citrullus Vulgaris — Watermelon Fruit Extract
Citrullus VulgarisWatermelon extract's antioxidant reputation rests on its lycopene content — a carotenoid with 11 conjugated double bonds that give it exceptional singlet oxygen quenching capacity. Studies have confirmed lycopene to be more effective than beta-carotene in neutralising the UV-induced free radicals responsible for collagen degradation and photoaging.
Beyond lycopene: citrulline (an amino acid supporting nitric oxide synthesis and microcirculation), vitamins B and C, and high-water-binding polysaccharides that deliver light, immediate hydration. Non-comedogenic and suitable for every skin type, including oily and sensitive.

02 — Grapevine Resveratrol & Cellular Longevity
Vitis Vinifera — Grapevine Extract
Vitis ViniferaGrapevine seed extract contains resveratrol and oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs) — polyphenols cited in dermatological literature as up to 50 times more potent than vitamin E as free radical scavengers. Resveratrol activates SIRT1, a protein associated with cellular longevity and the suppression of NF-κB inflammatory pathways that accelerate tissue aging. OPCs protect collagen and elastin from matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) degradation — the enzymatic breakdown of structural proteins that occurs with age and UV exposure.
- Supreme Maintenance Youth Serum — Vitis Vinifera combined with Pseudoalteromonas marine ferment and Chlorella for maximum cellular longevity
03 — Microalgae Green Science for Skin Regeneration
Chlorella Vulgaris, Euglena Gracilis & Laminaria Digitata
Chlorella Vulgaris / Euglena Gracilis / Laminaria DigitataChlorella Vulgaris is a freshwater microalgae with an unusually dense nutritional profile: chlorophyll, amino acids, vitamins B12 and C, growth factors, and minerals. In clinical application it stimulates skin cell regeneration and supports collagen synthesis. Its detoxifying properties also help neutralise environmental pollutants that accelerate surface skin aging.
Euglena Gracilis contains paramylon — a form of beta-glucan unique to Euglena — that supports skin barrier function and immune response. It appears in several Dr Sebagh formulations where barrier reinforcement and overnight regeneration are priorities.
Laminaria Digitata is a brown seaweed delivering concentrated marine minerals, fucoidan (a sulphated polysaccharide with anti-inflammatory and hydration properties), and deep nourishment. It appears in the Platinum Gold Elixir alongside Pseudoalteromonas ferment.

04 — Helichrysum The Immortelle
Helichrysum Italicum Extract
Everlasting FlowerNamed the "immortelle" — the everlasting flower — for its remarkable longevity after cutting, Helichrysum italicum extract contains diketones unique to this species. These compounds have documented anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and microcirculatory properties. Clinical studies demonstrate reduction in puffiness, improvement in dark circles, and a visible brightening effect. The periorbital area — where microcirculatory sluggishness and inflammation are primary contributors to dark circles — is where Helichrysum delivers its most visible results.
- Exo C Booster — Helichrysum Italicum extract targeting dark circles, puffiness, and fine lines around the eye
