3D Facelift, Soft Surgery

3D Thread Lift is an effective non-surgical face lift treatment suitable for anybody looking to improve the appearance of sagging skin around the face and neck. It is a minimally invasive procedure where threads made of bioresorbable materials are inserted into the skin and lifted upwards to result in a refreshed, lifted and tighter-skinned visage.

Treatment FAQs

What is K Thread Lift (3D Thread Lift)?

The K Thread Lift (3D Thread Lift) is a minimally invasive procedure that lifts and tightens sagging epidermal tissue using threads made of Polydioxanone (PDO) as well as Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA) and Polycaprolactone (PCA) . Once inserted, the threads are lifted upwards to anchor the skin and slight pressure is applied to the skin in order to reshape its surface. The effects of the treatment are immediate circumventing the lengthy downtime typical of surgical facelifts.

How does it work?

After administering a local anaesthetic, the threads are inserted into various layers of the skin via cannulas. The threads are lifted upwards and anchor the skin after which any excess thread is trimmed. Once inserted, the threads produce three effects in the skin:

Firstly, there is an instant skin lifting effect from the mechanics of the thread insertion as the threads provide support to lift skin in its new position.

Secondly, a K Thread Lift (3D Thread Lift) promotes cellular renewal through collagen stimulation and neovascularization (the body's natural process of forming new blood vessels). By increasing blood flow to the area, and promoting cellular renewal, the K Thread Lift (3D Thread Lift) improves skin texture, reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and boosts skin elasticity.

Finally, by effecting a contraction of fat tissue, skin is tightened, lifted and taught.

What does it treat?

As we age, our skin loses its elasticity and the effects of gravity become much more apparent especially on our faces. The K Thread Lift (3D Thread Lift) is the ideal treatment to correct drooping of the brow, midface and chin (jowls), lift sagging neck skin as well as correct irregularities in the cheek area.

Is it painful?

The area to be treated is fully anaethetised before the threads are inserted. However, some mild discomfort may be experienced during treatment despite anaesthesia.

How quickly will I see results?

The skin is immediately lifted after a K Thread Lift (3D Thread Lift) lifting procedure. The overall appearance will be slightly tighter than that which can be expected from the final result; after a week or so, tension in the threads will slacken very slightly leaving much more natural result.

The rejuvenating, cellular renewal boosting effects of the K Thread Lift (3D Thread Lift) treatment will be apparent after 1 to 2 months leading to better skin texture, reduced fine lines and firmer, smoother skin.

How long do threads last?

Roughly 9 months after treatment, the threads will have dissolved. However, the results of the treatment will persist beyond this 9 month period. To maintain results, it is suggested you may repeat the procedure every 12-18 months.

What can I expect after the procedure?

Most patients experience no complications following treatment. Common side effects include bruising, swelling and some discomfort which can be eased with paracetamol but may last up to 5 or 10 days. Depending on the threads used, a sensation of mild tightness is also common and can be expected to last up to 2 weeks. The treatment has minimal downtime due to its nonsurgical nature. However, it is best to give it 1-2 days days of recovery, and restrict facial movements for 24 hours subsequent to treatment. Ideally you should also sleep your back for 3-5 nights, with extra pillows to allow for an elevated position.

Some side effects are related to the technique of insertion and the types of threads used. These include surface depressions, thread migration, facial asymmetry, prolonged pain, and prolonged dimpling. The expertise of Dr Sebagh and his team, alongside Dr Sebagh's exclusive vertical lifting technique, mean that such outcomes are unlikely when a K Thread Lift (3D Thread Lift) is performed at The Dr Sebagh Clinic.

The K Thread Lift, however, uses Korean-made PDO threads, made from Polydioxanone (a bio-degradable material developed for use in wound-healing sutures), which anchor sagging tissues thanks to tiny ‘barbs’. Target areas are identified, before a battle plan is drawn, quite literally, on to the face and neck. Next, puncture points are made at the desired entry points, before the PDOs, which are pre-threaded onto blunt-tip needles, are inserted into the skin. Here, they are pushed beneath the tissues, where they gather the fallen fat, pulling it upwards, before they re-emerge through the skin. A final tug to secure them, any excess is trimmed, and presto, you’re done. It takes up to 45 minutes depending on the area to be treated, and the threads dissolve gradually, over the course of nine months, to be replaced by brand-new collagen. So the good work continues... Results: Despite slight swelling, the face looks immediately lifted, with contours noticeably sculpted and jowls less heavy. And it’ll stay that way for up to two years.
